Antique Needle Case Pin Keep in Original Mailing Box

Description

This is a very unusual item. This pin keep was mailed in this box. The box is as interesting as the item. I own three books on sewing collectibles but I have not found an item similar to this one, so I can only describe it as best I can. The material seems to be leather, it is hard to the touch and shiny. The inlay looks like abalone shell. The surface is completely smooth to the touch. The name J H Weber is scratched into the back.
The box is interesting because it has patented metal clasps on the side so the item can be returned to the sender in the original same box if needed.
