    Description

Antique Hand Made Bristol Board Needle Book
    English * Circa 1870
This antique needle book was made by a lady in the mid Victorian era and is all handmade. It is made of perforated card paper that was especially made to be a needle book and it's one of the most delicate I've ever seen. The pierced design on the front shows Jesus kneeling in prayer and on the back He's with a small child. Both the front and back have a cartouche that was made to cross stitch and personalize. One side is stitched "From A Friend" and the other side says "Never forget me".
An almost translucent silk lining has been stitched inside
    both covers.
In the middle there are four finely woven red wool flannel pages to hold the needles. They are all edged with hand embroidered buttonhole and feather stitches. It measures 2 7/8" x 4" closed and is 100% original. The condition is excellent inside and out with no loss, amazing for a fragile piece of this age.
